Sesame Street Elmo Says Boo! ReviewPreschool Halloween Special and Sesame Street Counting DVD
Sesame Street Elmo Says Boo! preschool Halloween Special is a Sesame Street counting DVD full of funny Halloween jokes for kids and spooky Halloween fun.
The preschool Halloween special Sesame Street Elmo Says Boo! presents a series of funny kid jokes about Halloween and other spooky subjects while also teaching kids to count to 15. The popular Muppet Elmo models for young viewers how it is possible to have fun telling jokes on Halloween, even if a child is also a little spooked by the scary decorations and creepy characters associated with this autumn holiday. Halloween Sesame Street DVD About Halloween Jokes for KidsThis Halloween Sesame Street DVD begins with Elmo visiting the Count's spooky castle to tell his friend some funny Halloween jokes for kids. The more frightening details of this scene, including background howls, creaky doors, thunder and lightning, flying bats, cobwebs, and a life-sized skeleton, may spook younger viewers as much as they do the shivering Elmo. Because Elmo does remain in the Count's home even after being scared, however, children may learn that it can be fun to become a little spooked on Halloween, as well as that there is nothing to be ashamed of if a kid is afraid of some of Halloween's more creepy aspects. Throughout the rest of this Sesame Street Halloween special, Elmo, the Count, and various other Muppet characters tell each other silly Halloween jokes, Halloween riddles, and kids knock knock jokes about Halloween. By the end of this cute Elmo video, preschoolers will have gained a whole repertoire of spooky jokes with which to amuse their friends and family throughout October. Sesame Street Counting DVD Full of Spooky Halloween FunFrom this Sesame Street counting DVD, young kids learn more than just cute Halloween riddles and kids knock knock jokes. Each time a Muppet joins in the spooky Halloween fun by telling a new Halloween joke, the Count counts the joke (complete with his trademark thunder, lightning, and AH AH AH laugh) and the matching numeral is displayed on screen, teaching kids to count to 15. In addition, several of the classic Sesame Street segments that are interspersed with the main plot of this counting video also teach counting. A new version of the song Transylvania 1-2-3-4-5 (itself a parody of the classic Glenn Miller big band song Pennsylvania 6-5000) shows the Count counting to 10 over and over even though the song lyrics stop at 5, while a classic Sesame Street animation of spooky bats flying out of a window encourages the viewer to count along to 8. Finally, the waltz time measure of the classic Sesame Street song The Batty Bat allows the Count to model how to count to three over and over. Preschool Halloween Special Teaching EmotionsBecause children often feel afraid of common Halloween sights and sounds, Sesame Street Elmo Says Boo! is also an Elmo video teaching emotions. Elmo shows how and why a child might feel afraid at Halloween time by expressing nervousness and fear while visiting the Count's spooky castle. Several classic Sesame Street segments also introduce and focus on teaching fear and other emotions. For example, in one segment, celebrity guest Julia Roberts and Elmo play a game where they try to scare one another (although he is so cute that she ends up modeling amusement and laughter several times). In another, one animated circle attempts to scare another and ends up being scared itself. In a classic Sesame Street segment, Ernie and Bert encounter and take turns being frightened by an Egyptian mummy who bears a striking resemblance to Ernie. Finally, the classic Sesame Street song Frazzle presents several Sesame Street monsters singing about Frazzle's various emotions and how he laughs, cries, feels hungry, feels afraid feels hot, and so on. Sesame Street Elmo Says Boo! Review Younger viewers may find some of the spookier elements of this cute Elmo Halloween video too intense. Characters like a talking suit of armor or a talking painting may freak younger viewers out, especially since kids may relate deeply with Elmo, who also seems terrified at times. Overall, however, this is a completely family friendly Halloween video full of spooky Halloween fun that does a good job of teaching kids to count and introducing them to an array of funny kid jokes about Halloween. Sesame Street Elmo Says Boo! can be purchased by itself as a stand-alone Halloween Sesame Street DVD or bundled with the Elmo Halloween video Sesame Street A Magical Halloween Adventure as part of the Sesame Street: Halloween Bonus Pack DVD set. Fans of Sesame Street monsters will also want to track down the Sesame Street Elmo Says Boo! CD, which contains all of the songs from this Halloween tv special, plus several other classic monster muppet songs and Elmo songs.
